Before kicking off a healthy or specific liver detox diet, you need to consider taking some health supplements to help support your internal organs and aid the whole detox process. You’ll get a good detox from all of the supplements but if you’re interested in a deeper cleanse you may add other herbal supplements to your plan. If you decide to take that option you should check with a qualified nutritional consultant.

What should you eat on your natural detox diet
Lots of Fruit and Vegetables -Make Tasty Detox Drinks
You can eat pretty much any fruit and veg but make sure you eat a broad range of them every day. Doing so will make sure you get a much broader mix of the fundamental phytochemicals (beneficial plant compounds).
Eat three items of fruit each day as a minimum. Mix colors - yellow, orange, red - to ensure you get a good variety of nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants. You can be eating fruit all day, fruit deserts are great, as healthy snacks or as freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. Dried fruit may be included in small quantities.
The same again with vegetables - aim for three servings a day. Feel free to try every and all veggies as part of the detoxification process. Make at least one of these a cruciferous vegetable (Brussels sprouts, broccoli, watercress, cauliflower or cabbage) as these have glucosinolates, which are well known for increasing the power of your liver’s detoxification properties - so your body gets a much needed liver detox for free.
Try to eat your vegetables fresh and raw as part of a salad or if you must cook them just lightly steam them so that you don’t kill the natural enzymes. Don’t be afraid to juice your vegetables as they make a great detox drink.
Sprouted Beans and Pulses
There’s lots of healthy protein in pulses, as well as B vitamins, they’re high in fiber and also contain zinc and iron. For best results with pulses buy them dry, soak and cook according to the instructions on the packet. It’s handy to have a tin of pulses as back up but give them a good rinse in clean water if they have been stored in salt water.
You can include any variety of beans, lentils and bean sprouts when you’re following a detox diet. Sprouted beans are a very healthy option on a detox diet. They are rich in valuable enzymes, protein, vitamins and minerals. Sprouted beans are available from health food shops or most big supermarkets. Or if you prefer you could grow your own.
Cut The Wheat Out
Take a break from wheat and go for wheat free or wholegrain alternatives. Quinoa, millet, brown rice, wheat-free and yeast-free bread, pumpernickel bread, rye crackers and rye bread, oatcakes, rice cakes and wheat-free pasta are all suitable.
Wheat has more gluten than oats so it’s OK to have them in your diet but they may bloat you if you have bloating issues or you’re allergic to gluten in anyway.
Wholegrains supply a lot of fiber most of the B vitamins and vitamin E, minerals (such as potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron and selenium), complex carbohydrate and small amounts of essential oils. All these fruits, veggies and whole grains, give us slow release carbohydrates, which fuel your body a lot longer. Eat one portion of grains, bread or pasta in every main meal.
