When you have an anxiety attack, you simply cannot think rationally or logically. I mean, how can you when you’re pretty certain you’re having a heart attack or convinced you’re about to pass out (thanks to breathing at a ridiculously high rate). Of course the attack ends, as it always does, and we are still quite alive! No matter the outcome, if you have panic attacks then all you can think about is how to cure anxiety.
I’m a cognitive neuroscientist, so logically I knew my brain was having an abnormal reaction. I knew my brain was in fight or flight mode for some reason, and I was left feeling the physical affects. I also knew how to cure anxiety – in theory. In short, I know our brains are capable of tremendous things and we can alter their function and response.
